Move-In Information

ARRIVE

There will be lots of signs and volunteers directing you on where to go. 

• Arrive on day and time sent in SCAD email 
• Follow volunteer instructions to park
• Student check-in requiring: *family stays with car*
  • Student ID number
  • Driver’s license or passport 
  • Screenshot of check-in QR code (found in housing portal)

UNLOAD & PARK

Unloading at the Hive is highly structured and organized with lots of helpers and lots of large rolling bins. Things move fast with only a 30 minute window to unload!

• Follow volunteer instructions to unloading zone
• Student athelete volunteers and paid Student Home Mentors assist
  • Tipping students is not expected or needed
• Large rolling bins will be available 
• Dorm elevators are available
  • Wait times vary between buildings ranging from 0 - 15 minutes
• After unloading, volunteers will direct you to move your car to an on-site parking deck
  • The Hive parking deck is behind the gym near the cafeteria

MOVE CAR

Students and families are given two hours to park on campus while unloading and setting up. Two hours after their designated arrival time, both student and family cars must be moved off-site to accommodate the large number of students moving in. Student cars can be moved back on-campus the Saturday after move-in week concludes.

• After 2 hours in the parking garage, all cars (student and family) must be moved off SCAD property
• Student cars must stay off campus until the Saturday after move-in week

HOT HIVE TIPS

• Have student upload picture and activate SCAD card before arrival
• Traffic is heavy on and around campus - leave lots of extra time!
• Tipping student helpers is not expected or needed
• Only the student’s car is allowed in the unloading zone
• Family in a separate car should find nearby parking and meet their student at check-in to be allowed on campus
